At the end of a crazy and hectic Spring, my friend Leigh and I were able to escape to Verona, Italy for a long weekend. It is amazing that with 40 euro (Yes 40 euro ROUNDTRIP!!!) and 50 minutes to spare, one can find themselves in beautiful Italy for a long weekend (thanks to Ryan Air and a direct flight from Nuremburg Airport - you can't beat it!!). You also know that you have gotten spoiled living here, when after arriving in Verona (with not a plan in the works, except to eat yummy Italian food, enjoy morning cappaccino's at the street cafe's and sip on yummy Aperol Spritz in the evening), we dabble with the idea of taking the 1 hour train to Venice (8 euro trip), but decide that we can't be bothered because Verona is just too relaxing and enjoyable in itself! (DEFINITELY SPOILED!!!). The weather was perfect and the company was even better! Oh how I will miss this way of life!!!
| The end of the Alps! |
| This was our evening and morning view (we had Cappaccino in the morning at the same table :-)) |
| Completely entertained watching all the dogs trying to cool off in the fountain :-) |
| My friend found us the coolest place to stay - this was our balcony for the weekend! |
| And the view from the Balcony - so fun to people watch! |
| And the same table, but in the morning :-) |
| And so much fresh fruit - delicious!! |
| Verona has its own Arena (it is a very Historical City in its own right) |
| And the views are amazing!!! |
| so pretty!! |
| Such great company! |
| And here is the wad of gum collection at the Romeo and Juliet Balcony!!! So funny! |
| Yes - this is the famous place that Shakespeare wrote of... |
| Juliet (or Guilliette as the Italians call her) |
| The Balcony |
| And lots and lots of... |
| love locks! |
| Unbelievably pretty! |
| Can you establish a theme here? :-) |
| The view from the hill top!! |
| What is amazing about this City is that it is so unbelievable in its own right, yet most people only think of it as a quick stop through trip (it sits between Venice, Lake Garda, and Tuscany). |
| Beautiful! |
| Even after midnight, the streets were bustling below our balcony (many people take a Siesta so that they can stay up late :-)) |
| Gorgeous!!! |
| Macaroons!!! (I guess they are accepting of the French treats here too :-)) |
| We went to this Pizza place that is famous among the locals (literally, there was a line out the door before it even opened!) Anyway, this was the Pizza!!! So unbelievably delicious! |
| A Bachelor Party one night below our balcony! |
| In the Piazza watching "Football" (Soccer) |
| Amazing foods!!! |
| And with only a 50 minute flight back to Germany, it was a perfect weekend getaway!!! |
