Sand Kerwa

Once again, I am a little behind with posting. It seems like "life" has taken over, and the reality of summer vacation is a distant memory.... Anyway... A few weeks back, we enjoyed a long weekend of tradition: Sand Kerwa (the church anniversary of a church on "Sand Strasse" that brings over 200,000 people into Bamberg for 5 days each year).  It was a really fun weekend hanging out with friends and enjoying the end of summer....

The crowds pour in on Thursday night

They have tons of stands with: beer, food, wine, prosecco etc. It is all very inexpensive and super delicious!!! (This is a photo of the Mahr's Brau truck (one of our many local breweries)

Always neat things to see

5 years ago, when we first moved here, it was rare to see Dirndls or Lederhosen, but now it has become more popular.

The famous Schlenkerla Brewery (so pretty!)

Bryan enjoying his first "Coburger Bratwurst" of the long weekend  (1st of many I might add :-)

Bryan enjoying his first beer of the weekend (1st of many, I might add :-)

More Bavarian traditional dress...

View from the bridge ...

Sand Kerwa - probably our favorite long weekend of the year here in Bamberg!!!!
