China - Day 2

On Monday, we got up early and took a taxi to Ciqikou which is an old Chinese village that is now turned into lots of small shops. We went 2 times last time we were here, but because we were with a group last time and on time constraints - it was a bit rushed. This time, we got to meander throughout the entire thing and it was so nice. The other thing about China is that it is so inexpensive. Their pay is a lot less, so the prices of many things are as well. The kids loved it, because all of the things that we usually say no to, they could experience. I also felt good because we would often give a tip and it would mean so much. To give you an idea of the difference in price - a taxi ride across the river, a huge cotton candy, a foot fish spa, and 1 lunch would each be the eqivilent of $2.00.  The kids liked Ciqikou so much that we went back on our last day in Chongqing too. They filled up with lots of gifts for family and friends.

The kids at the front of Ciqikou

Lots of cool statues :-)

We had someone draw lots of names in Chinese for us... Mia bought one of the special paint brushes too.

This is one of the favorites in Chongqing - it is like a combination of a cookie and a cracker

So many pretty colors everywhere

there were corners and alleys everywhere to walk down...

squid on a stick :-)

Mia got a cotton candy - beautiful!

Ciqikou is a famous place for Chinese tourists to come - we were the only westerners there

This was funny - we did the fish spa (where you put your feet in a fish tank and the then fish eat the dead skin off your feet. The Chinese men were watching us..

After Bailey and I laughed so hard with our feet being tickled by the fish bites - Bryan and Mia decided to do it too. Camden wanted no part of it though :-) They even had tanks with bigger fish for those that braved it, but we opted for the little ones :-)

and a little pig - Mia fell in love!

This lady melted candy and then made a new design and turned it into a lolloi pop - so talented!!

Mia was born in the year of the Rooster - so her lollipop was a rooster (cotton candy and lollipops are not usually the norm by us - so it was quite fun for everyone!)

This guy made homemade Spring Rolls - he was quite a character...

I had to get some coffee to wake me up, so we stopped in this little place. It was decorated adorably...

Camden got to shoot a bow and arrow...

I love these guys!!

So glad to have made such fun memories on this trip!

This was our lunch - Wonton soup made with fresh wontons. We were a little adventurous with street food (this little restaurant was just a back alley place). The food was so good though and luckily no one got sick on our trip..

Our chopstick abilities improved greatly!

This is at the end of Ciqikou - over looking the river

And looking back up to Ciqikou

So many cool and different sights to see - our minds were so stimulated the entire trip!

and then we took the subway back closer to home (and then got a taxi) - I smiled at the U.S. flag on the man in the back ground :-)
